Caring for Your Tree

Young trees, like young people, need to be nutured as they grow.

Watering:
Your tree will require 10 gallons each week. In hot weather check your tree two times per week to be sure your tree is not wilting. It may need an extra watering.

Water your tree with a slow deep-watering technique within the tree well throughout the first year. Run a hose to the tree well, and let the water slowly trickle around the well and seep into the ground for 15 minutes to 1 hour.

When your tree has been in the ground for at least a year you can cut down your watering to a once or twice a month schedule. Always keep an eye on your tree to be aware when it is drooping and needs more water. Also keep the area around your tree free of weeds and debris.

Feeding:
Your tree should be fed three times per year (Spring, Summer, and Fall) with an all-purpose fertilizer.
