"I was shopping for a tree to offer shade to my dogs in their new \"HOT\"/heat backyard. Orchard Supply had a sizeable sign that said \"SHADE\". I liked the way the leaves looked as well and that\'s all it took! The Orchard Supply staff made sure I knew how to plant the tree and that I had all the supplies I needed before I left the store. Great experience!"

"It was our 2nd annual Beautification Day at McCollam Elementry. We planted many bushes and plants to beautify our school. Someone from the neighborhood donated a tree and we were able to plant it near a picnic table."
Ying from San Jose wrote,
"We like it very much."

"OSH was so helpful in helping me find the Meyer\'s lemon tree I wanted for my backyard so I can share my lemons with my neighbors and friends and use them in my cooking whenever I want in the future!"
Charles from San Jose wrote,
"I planted the Acer in an 18\" wide pot and it sits on my patio with a huge (5\' tall) pink Rhododendron (name unknown), a tree azalea (Yukon Gold), a bush azalea (name unknown) and a \"Christmas\" camellia. The Japanese Maple is about 3\' tall and I\'ll keep it that way through Bonsai techniques of snipping the branches and root system in the years to come. Purchased the plant at OSH. It came in a pot with its\' root ball in a burlap bag. Brought the bag down to mid-way of the ball and back loaded the pot with planting mix. Mixed some of the ball soil with the planting mix to make sure the root ball dirt would not dry to a hard ball as the year goes on. My drip water system will keep it slightly moist during the summer months."

"We bought our first home and planted trees with a passion... I used to be a tree amigo with OCF before I got married and had kids. My hubby and I planted most of the trees together last spring and it brings us so much joy to check on each one throughout the seasons to watch them grow and change."
Renee from San Jose wrote,
"A friend was redoing his back yard and needed to take out his japanese maple. I offered it a new home - it is doing great. It finally turned red and lost its leaves last week."
Glenn from San Jose wrote,
"Trees are wonderful! Fruit trees are even better. They look nice and they give fruit which you can eat. Who doesn\'t love trees?"
Cindy from San Jose wrote,
"I love my tree and Our City Forest! I actually have two male chinese pistache trees in my park strip in front of my house, but the other one was planted before 2008 so does not qualify to be registered here."
Cindy from San Jose wrote,
"I LOVE MY TREE, it makes me happy every day to have it growing in my yard. I was not at home when OCF came to plant it, so I did not have the pleasure of helping plant it. This tree is part of the Save and Shade program with PG&E."

"Two enthusiastic thumbs up! Great holiday fun!"
Roger from San Jose wrote,
"It was fun and felt so good to have a new young tree there. We planted it only a few weeks before we took the Tree Amigo classes and did know about \"tickle\" the roots. We partially dug it up and tried to do that but it had already sent out some strong feeders so we didn\'t really do much. We did cut some \"strangler\" roots, though, so it was a good thing we learned about that. It seems to be growing happy, healthy, and beautiful, but is in need of pruning. Which we hope to learn about one of these days."
Murphy from San Jose wrote,
"My husband loves stone fruits of any kind. We surprised him with a new fruit tree for his birthday. We actually had an absolutely perfect nectarine in the first year of our tree ownership!"
Mark from San Jose wrote,
"We bought a house and decided to plant lots of fruit trees to grow some of our own favorite foods."
Jie from anonymous city wrote,
"My house is much cooler in summer than before with the help from shady trees."
Michael from San Jose wrote,
"Planting 8 trees in one weekend from bare-root stock meant moving a LOT of dirt, especially since we built a couple of raised beds for them. It was worth it, though: three months later all of them seem very happy. We used the \"4-in-a-hole\" method to save space in our relatively small backyard, which allowed us to fit all 8 trees in a space about 12x24 feet. This was a good project to teach our children about patience and long-range planning, since it will be over 2 years before we can harvest the fruit. "
