President Obama Asks Nation
to Unite and Serve

On June 22, 2009, President Barack Obama launched "United We Serve", calling on all Americans to take part in increased community service and volunteer work between now and September 11th. Due to "unprecedented challenges" faced by our country, Obama said, volunteers are being tapped to help address "community needs in education, health, energy and the environment, and community renewal."

You can answer the call by supporting OCF's work to enhance the urban forest. Please check our calendar for volunteer opportunities or email us for information.

OCF is accepting applications for our 2009-2010 AmeriCorps service team. Apply today and receive green job training, a living stipend and education award. Contact (408) 99-TREES x105 for more information.

Our City Forest Introduces
The Tree Mobile

Councilmember Nancy Pyle checks out the new Tree Mobile
at the TJ Martin Park tree planting
.

The debut of OCF's 17-passenger mobile education unit was a big hit! At the April 18th Green Fair, 50 lucky attendees were invited to jump aboard for free
heritage tree tours in Willow Glen.

Since joining the OCF fleet, the Tree Mobile has made appearances across San José. So far, local scout troops, OCF planting volunteers, and even District 10 Councilmember Nancy Pyle (seen above) have experienced it first-hand.

Thank you to Sign-A-Rama for all their hard work!
