The Our City Forest AmeriCorps program mobilizes people from all walks of life for a year of full-time environmental service, giving them the skills and opportunities needed to create change. As environmental educators and hands-on coaches, these young leaders are cultivating greener and healthier schools and neighborhoods throughout San José and Silicon Valley.

Living Christmas Tree Program

Every holiday season, Our City Forest (OCF) encourages the community to purchase living Christmas trees. Living Christmas trees are not wasteful and better for the environment.  You will not be cutting down a tree and you will help to plant trees to beautify your neighborhood.  Instead of chucking your tree to the curb, make a difference in your community!

After the holiday season, Our City Forest collects your living Christmas trees and plants them in local schools, parks, and neighborhoods.  To find out what trees we will accept and when to drop them off, contact OCF at (408) 99-TREES x117 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Earth Day & Arbor & Day Programs

Our City Forest has special events planned for Earth Day and Arbor Day each year.  Dedicating days to environmental awareness can help foster a healthy environment for trees, plants, animals, and people.

Tree Advocacy

Our City Forest provides awareness and education about proper tree topping, removal, and pruning, as well as how to keep your neighborhood free of tree topping and improper care techniques.
