Our City Forest AmeriCorps Program!

AmeriCorps LogoOur City Forest is recruiting full-time and part-time AmeriCorps members for the positions listed below. The Our City Forest AmeriCorps program mobilizes people from all walks of life for a year of full-time environmental service, giving them the skills and opportunities needed to create change. As environmental educators and hands-on coaches, these young leaders are cultivating greener and healthier schools and neighborhoods throughout San José and Silicon Valley.

*Urban Forestry Positions: All OCF AmeriCorps members will receive coaching training: urban forestry, arboriculture, tree installation and establishment, tree care and community organizing.

Positions Available:

Urban Forestry Field Specialists Full-Time & Part-Time: Lead community outreach efforts and coordinate tree planting & tree care with residents. Will train, supervise, and coach diverse volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Field specialists will gain experience with coaching community residents/volunteers on planting, pruning, conducting community outreach, and coordinating planting events. Specialists will also do data entry and in office customer service.

Environmental Education and Outreach Specialists Full-Time & Part-Time: Environmental Education & Outreach Specialists duties will include: coordinating and conducting classroom presentations, staffing community outreach events, updating and maintaining literature and assisting with special events. Members will also do data entry and in office customer service.

Volunteer Specialists Full-Time: Volunteer coordinators will be responsible for the following duties: recruitment, training, and placement of community volunteers, managing communications with volunteers, organizing volunteer trainings and meetings, project data entry and providing support for outreach and field projects as needed.

  • Education Award: $5,350 (Full Time Members) & $1,800 (Part Time Members).
  • $15,000 Stipend divided evenly over 11 months of service, and Health Benefits (for Full Time Members), $6000 (for Part Time members).
