Our City Forest AmeriCorps Program!

Our City Forest is recruiting full-time and part-time AmeriCorps members for the positions listed below. The Our City Forest AmeriCorps program mobilizes people from all walks of life for a year of full-time environmental service, giving them the skills and opportunities needed to create change. As environmental educators and hands-on coaches, these young leaders are cultivating greener and healthier schools and neighborhoods throughout San José and Silicon Valley.

Positions Available:

Urban Forestry Specialists Full-time and Part-time: Urban Forestry Specialists will receive technical training in areas including: urban forestry, arboriculture, young tree structural pruning, tree installation and establishment, tree care, and community organizing. Specialists will serve in the field with community volunteers to gain additional hands-on experience planting, pruning, conducting community outreach, and coordinating planting events. Specialists will also do data entry and in office customer service. These technical trainings and experiences may qualify members for arborist certification (with qualified educational background or experience).

Environmental Education and Outreach Specialists Full-time and Part-time: Environmental Education and Outreach Specialists will also receive training in areas including: urban forestry, arboriculture, tree installation and establishment, tree care, and community organizing. Environmental Education & Outreach Specialists will perform tasks including: coordinating and conducting classroom presentations, staffing community outreach events, updating and maintaing literature, volunteer recruitment and placement, and assisting with special events. Members will also do data entry and in office customer service.
