Our City Forest offers a comprehensive volunteer training course for residents. The training course is intended for citizens interested in assisting groups organize and carry out tree planting and tree care projects throughout the San Jose area. Graduates of the training become official "Tree Amigos" - Our City Forest's specially trained volunteer corps.

Classes meet 3-5 hours weekly for 4 weeks. You will learn about:

Tree Amigo Volunteer Training
Our City Forest's Tree Amigo volunteer training course is offered quarterly. There are seven 2-3-hour classes, please click here to view the next scheduled class. Students will learn planting techniques, species identification, basic tree care, and how to help organize a community planting. There will be a tree nursery tour, a walking tree tour and a tree planting project.

The class is free and open to all. No experience necessary. For more detailed information on the course, please call (408) 998-7337x123 or email: education@ourcityforest.org Those completing the 18-hour training will become certified to coach volunteers at neighborhood and school tree plantings sponsored by Our City Forest.
