Tree Amigo Program Learn * Volunteer * Build Community
Our City Forest offers the Tree Amigo class as a free 20-hour course designed to educate and empower individuals to become successful advocates of the Urban Forest and to utilize Our City Forest as vehicle for regular and active service in the San Jose community. Course graduates become official "Tree Amigos" - Our City Forest's specially trained volunteer corps, and are invited to participate in ongoing trainings and fun community events. Tree Amigos are required to create and fulfill a Service Agreement of attending 10 events within a year’s time. Areas of service include: coaching volunteers in planting and maintaining trees, helping run the community tree nursery, teaching elementary school classes, conducting grassroots outreach, and more! Classes meet 5 hours weekly for 4 weeks and cover a breadth of topics, including:
The Urban Forest of San Jose Thurs, Nov. 10th: Our City Forest and Volunteerism Thursday classes are held from 6:00 - 8:00pm at our office: 151 W. Mission Street Ste. 151 San Jose, CA 95110. Saturday classes are held from 9:00am - 12:00pm in the field at various locations. Please wear outdoor work shoes and clothes. The class is free and open to all, ages 16 and over (parental permission and involvement required if under 16). No experience necessary!
