Schedule a field trip to the Education Center!

“A huge thank you to Our City Forest for making our field trip so special! The Peninsula Jewish Community Center’s summer program Camp Keff had an amazing time at Our City Forest’s Education Center. The team was incredible to work with and they curated a specialized field trip for our large group. The day was organized, well run, and the activities were engaging. The day was perfectly divided into education and recreation. Our group especially loved the seed collecting, scavenger hunt, and a game they played with tree species! It was an overall great experience, and we hope to work with Our City Forest for our other programs as well. We highly recommend them for large group field trips if you are looking for a fun AND educational experience!

Arboretum

Our City Forest and hundreds of local volunteers have planted over 210 trees and shrubs on our 2-acres since Spring 2015. The arboretum showcases over 50 different species of trees and shrubs that grow well in our urban environment. Our arboretum is new and still growing, and guided tours are available through reservation.

Drought-tolerant Garden

Established in 2018, the Our City Forest drought-tolerant Garden showcases shrubs found throughout California. The garden is an educational resource for people to learn about the diverse ecosystems in California, as well as gain inspiration to create their own landscapes and save water. Many of the shrubs in the garden can be obtained at Our City Forest’s Community Nursery, too. The drought-tolerant Garden is a leading example of a small scale California native restoration project, attainable for every garden or landscape.

DIY Lawn Conversion Plot

Within our education center, we also have a LawnBusters example garden. This area showcases the process of design, installation, irrigation, and maintenance that goes into converting your lawn into a drought-tolerant landscape. A visit to the garden can be particularly helpful for those not eligible for the Lawn Busters Program.

How you can help!

Become a docent

Volunteers must adhere to our Safety Guidelines listed here.

Become a Docent - Commit to 1-2 days per week, the schedule is flexible; open up the site during park hours and greet visitors walking by, sharing Our City Forest's programs and services. Start your own projects with the help of AmeriCorps members and OCF resources.

Become a Tree Care Specialist - We need someone who can commit to watering the newly planted trees and shrubs weekly. The schedule is flexible, and training is provided.
